Day 3 is upon us and I had to think of something I couldn't live without....Well there are many things I cant live without and many things that I could probably live without but prefer not to like my GHD or a steamy cup of coffee. I definitely could NOT live without water or food. Clothes? Well, I might survive without clothes but other people might not live to see the day if they saw me without clothes on. Safe to say I decided not to pursue any ideas down this track!
After narrowing down my list of 'cannot live withouts' I decided to focus on water and coffee! In the photo right above us I tried to centre my focal point on the running water and seeing how much detail I could capture. For this I chose the fastest shutter speed my camera would allow me: 1/4000. To do this I went into Tv mode (shutter priority) and then played around a bit.
Here is another one I experimented with using the bathroom sink. It took me ages before I was happy with the angle of the shot.

Then because I was already playing around with the shutter speed I wanted to see if I could try and capture droplets. This took forever! Actually I must confess and say that I had to have help from Nathan. In this shot here Nathan would drop a coffee bean into the glass and I would try and time it right when taking the shot. I would be telling a lie if I told you we got the perfect shot on the first go! It took us about 10mins to get this one and I'm still not that happy with it but at least my idea comes across.
I needed Nathan's help with this one too. When I tried to do it alone I spilled coffee all over the floor!Hence the dirty cup and sticky floor. Never mind!It still tasted good at 9pm at night...didn't help with the trying to get to sleep part though....The things you do in the name of art!
Anyway! Thats enough for today. I had great fun playing around with shutter speed, droplets and steam and I learnt that next time I should probably read a how to guide beforehand!
